ANNOUNCEMENT: Referee Development Training - Club and Society Referees The RFU Continuous Referee Development Awards are aimed at both Club Referees and Society Members who wish to hone their skills on any one of 14 aspects of refereeing the game. Club coaches and Youth Rugby volunteers are especially welcome to share some views about the game and learn what every referee should know. The sessions are held at clubs throughout the North Midlands and Staffordshire and generally last about 90 minutes with a bit of discussion over a pint afterwards.

If you are interested in these opportunities to improve your refereeing and gain an RFU accreditation for each one you attend, please contact Peter Evans peter.g.evans@dsl.pipex.com or 07768 405539.

NEWS: Grading Update
The Grading Committee met on Tuesday June 8th, and were please to grade 13 new members for the first time. A big welcome to the society for Trevor Brice, Rob Bond, Leigh French, Claire Foster, Chris Keen, Dave Morris, Sean Tate, Stephen Thomas, Sean Watkins, Stephen Wild, Bill Worth, John Garbut and Andy Wigley.

ADVISERS CORNER: Frustration, anxiety and arousal
As I looked through the Watching Spreadsheet I felt a degree of frustration in that we have only managed 243 sightings of referees this season compared with our total of 288 last season. The worst winter since forever hasn’t helped as game after game went “into the pink” on our website appointments ....    more >>
